Revised info: July 15th Westminster City Council study session on Rocky Mountain Greenway
July 15 @ 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm MDT
NOTE changes below: no public speaking at this event. There MAY be an event 1 week later where the public CAN speak.
Westminster City Hall [4800 W 92nd Ave, Westminster, CO 80031, Council Chambers]
The Westminster City Council is under pressure to back out of its commitments to the Rocky Mountain Greenway connections to the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge. The Greenway will eventually link Denver with Rocky Mountain National Park. A “study session” of the City Council already has a self-invited panel of 6 anti-nuclear, anti-Refuge spokesmen. The agenda, when available, will be at Study session agenda.
As noted on Nextdoor and on Facebook, the public will not be permitted to speak at the July 15th event. What happens at a following City Council session on July 22nd is not clear as of Friday, July 11th.
I have been allocated a time slot to present on behalf of local residents AND a small amount of the science, on soil radioactivity and the almost negligible doses due to plutonium.
More at Anti-nuclear activist arguments, which includes a quick review of the what the anti-nuclear people will probably claim, DMW’s rebuttal, and some of the actual science.
If you haven’t already, PLEASE fill out the brief survey at https://forms.gle/v3QVw8jzEg73Afnf8 . It is meant to counter the claims that the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center (and Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Rocky Flats Downwinders, etc. represent people who actually live around and use the Refuge.
