Welcome to the new website
Version 2 has been 5 years in coming. It has been a daunting task. In keeping with current beliefs about fighting misinformation, I have tried to warn people when they’re about to encounter junk information, and to make points graphically whenever I can.
Among the most infuriating statements I have heard and read is that “Not enough is known about Rocky Flats” (health effects, hot particles, etc). Educating myself about the cleanup made even more clear that mountains of data exist. The scientific literature has lots of (older) Rocky Flats data and information. The International Commission on Radiological Protection uses data from Rocky Flats workers. In the days of Google Scholar and Mendeley such a remark is the litmus test for someone who is grossly ignorant, lazy, or has an agenda.
Those who remember the first website will notice that much more attention is paid to `politics’, whatever that is. Version 1 had a landing-page welcome addressed to anti-Refuge people and groups. I have known for years how deeply entrenched strong feelings about the safety and history of Rocky Flats and the later Refuge remain; there is no hope of breaching the gulf. Thus the new site is focussed entirely on newcomers and fact- and data-oriented people. The science documents have been augmented with new subjects, and in the politics pages and blog I have felt free to express my opinions.
