Denver Public Library won’t change biased account of Carl Johnson, father of Rocky Flats misinfo

I’ve heard back from Alejandro Hernandez, author of a web page targeting children about Dr. Carl Johnson. The DPL will make no changes, even factual. If you’re offended by an uninformed public imprimatur on anti-nuclear misinformation, re-read the Library page and email them.

In this document I point out factual errors in the account and compare common beliefs with the Colorado Supreme Court’s record of Johnson’s firing. The linked document reviews the scientific findings about Johnson’s work in Colorado before being fired by Jeffco, and similar work (and how it was discredited) in Utah after he was fired by Jeffco in 1981.

I had suggested to the Library two alternatives:

(1) Correct the obvious errors already specified in the Word Bank and leave the existing document intact (but explicitly specify the authorship and the date of the original entry) with a prominent link to an alternative view of his career (attached) within the Library’s online holdings.

(2) Determine the validity of claims made in each document and reject the one which is contrary to the published peer-reviewed scientific literature.

The main significance is that a public institution has engaged in the widespread “politically correct” (and tacitly anti-nuclear) stance dictated to it by someone with a strong bias and zero relevant credentials. More on the this website page.
